CineShelf privacy policy

Effective date: 25 July 2026

Contact: coding.with.hadi@gmail.com

CineShelf (“the app”) is developed and operated by Hadi Kachmar.

1. Overview

CineShelf helps you discover, organise, rate, review, and share movies, television series, and video games. This policy explains what information the app processes, why, and the choices you have.

2. Information we process

CineShelf does not upload poster images to our servers. When you save artwork, the image is written to your own device.

3. How we use it

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Visibility and sharing

You control whether each profile section is private, visible to friends, or public. Only minimal copies of the entries in a section are published, and only for sections that are not private.

Your private comments and private notes are never shared. They remain in your own private storage and are not copied into any social or public view.

Your display name, username, avatar, and anything else you place on a discoverable profile may be visible to other signed-in users, subject to your privacy settings and to blocking.

5. Service providers

CineShelf relies on:

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Catalogue searches are sent through our Cloudflare proxy. We do not send your private library comments to TMDB or IGDB.

6. Retention

Your account and library data is kept while your account is active. When you delete your account, the data listed in our account deletion page is removed immediately and cannot be recovered.

Deleted data may persist briefly in encrypted infrastructure backups before being overwritten in the normal backup rotation. It is not accessible in the app or to other users during that time.

7. Deleting your account

You can delete your account and its data at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete account in the app, or by emailing us.

Full instructions: Delete your CineShelf account

8. Security

We use authenticated Firebase access, server-side security rules, HTTPS, and an authenticated proxy. No system can guarantee absolute security. Please protect your credentials and report suspected account abuse to coding.with.hadi@gmail.com.

9. Age requirement

CineShelf is not directed to children and is rated 16+. It is intended for users aged 16 and over.

The app catalogues movies, television series, and video games supplied by third-party providers. That catalogue can include artwork and descriptions referencing violence, sexual content, strong language, and drug use. CineShelf does not stream or play any of that content; it displays cover artwork and written summaries only. Pornographic titles are excluded.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe someone under 16 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International use

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including outside your region of residence. By using CineShelf you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those countries.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can exercise deletion directly in the app, and you can contact us for any other request.

11. Changes

If we make material changes we will update the effective date above and, where required, notify you in the app.
